Martin Baker

Hello everyone, I’m Martin Baker, a bit of a mouthful to say so I prefer to be called Martin Bee. I was born many years ago in Stockton-on-Tees and have spent most of my life living in this wonderful town. I was brought up in Thornaby and went to a school in Middlesbrough but remained a dedicated supporter of my birth town.

I became aware of the music scene at the time of the first recordings by Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran, Paul Anka and of course, the King by listening to Radio Luxemberg. I loved buying records (78’s and then 45’s) and had to have one every week. This may explain why I play a lot of records from the late 1950’s although I do like most music up until the 1980’s.

I became a volunteer radio presenter at Radio North Tees (Hospital Radio) in January 2007 and have produced two programmes each week since then. As Radio Stitch moves forward into the world of the internet I shall continue to produce more programmes that contain old and very old music, after all I am one of the original “wrinkly rockers”.

I only play the music that I personally like and hope the listener shares my, sometimes bizarre, taste. My shows air between 7pm – 9pm on Sunday and Tuesday evenings ;
